UPPU Returns: Jito Acquires Independent Solana News Outlet

Solana’s best source for independent ecosystem journalism lives on
Jito Foundation, an organization powering Solana’s market layer, has announced its acquisition of UPPU, crypto’s leading Solana-native news outlet.
After announcing it would cease operations following a hack at its former parent company, UPPU is back on the beat, returning immediately to continue serving as a primary resource for ecosystem participants.
Despite its new ownership, UPPU maintains creative and editorial control over all coverage, and will continue to provide objective, credibly neutral commentary on all things Solana, as it always has.
Championing niche media and objective journalism as a valuable public good, Jito Foundation President Brian Smith contends that editorial independence contributes to the long-term health of the Solana network.
“When UPPU went dark, the ecosystem lost something difficult to replace. This acquisition is about filling the gap with a platform that operates from a position of editorial independence. Jito has a long-term stake in the health of the Solana ecosystem, and that means investing in the infrastructure and public goods that keeps the community informed.” - Brian Smith, President of Jito Foundation.
Jito Steps In to Support Independent Solana Journalism
Since its inception, UPPU has always aimed to provide objective, unbiased coverage of the Solana ecosystem, documenting every triumph, every speedbump, and every “Only Possible on Solana” absurdity.
For many network participants and community members, checking UPPU became a daily ritual for navigating the ecosystem. In the same way that traditional players fired up legacy financial news sources before hitting the trading floor, Solana’s onchain economists regularly turned to UPPU to contextualize what’s happening in the ecosystem, and to keep abreast of the news and developments shaping Internet Capital Markets.
Following its acquisition by Jito, the UPPU newsroom is back online, resuming all services from news coverage and data analytics to investigative journalism and video content.
Reinforcing UPPU’s ongoing commitment to unbiased research and journalism, Head of Communications Mia Grodsky assures readers and viewers that the media company’s mission and editorial processes will remain unchanged under Jito Foundation’s stewardship.
“UPPU exists to document what is being built across the Solana ecosystem. We’re helping write the early history of this industry as it unfolds, and our mission remains the same: providing clear, unbiased research and journalism for the ecosystem.” - Mia Grodsky, UPPU Head of Communications
UPPU: The Story So Far
Originally launched in 2021, UPPU first made a name for itself as an NFT analytics platform, giving Solana’s avid NFT collectorship a comprehensive suite of tools and metrics for navigating the chain’s nascent JPEG market.
In July 2022, UPPU was acquired by Step Finance, a DeFi portfolio management application and analytics provider. Amidst a declining NFT market, UPPU pivoted from pure data analytics to a fully-fledged news and media outlet, chronicling stories and updates from across the Solana ecosystem with precision and an eye-for-detail that can only come from a crypto-native team.
With the Solana network witnessing unprecedented levels of growth and adoption in recent years, UPPU enjoyed a breakout growth in 2025.
Between co-hosting the third-annual Solana Crossroads conference in Istanbul and growing its online presence, UPPU maintained a strong growth trajectory throughout the year, culminating in a 3-day livestream hosted from the main floor of Solana Breakpoint 2025 in Abu Dhabi.
Alongside the company’s strong events presence, UPPU’s website and content suite scaled dramatically, launching a wealth of weekly newsletters, livestream shows, and a $SOL ETF tracker.
Under Jito’s stewardship, UPPU looks forward to continuing to deliver the high standards of independent journalism that have established the brand as a trusted and reputable name across the Solana ecosystem.
